Is there any Relationship between Hadoop and Databases

I have tried searching the web for an answer to this question which seems like a very basic question. I am a complete beginner in big data processing.

I want to know the relationship between HDFS and databases. 

Is it always necessary that to use HDFS, the data be in some NoSQL format? Is there a specific database that always comes attached when using HDFS?

As such, there is no relationship between HDFS and Databases, as HDFS stands for Hadoop Distributed File System. It is a type of file system which is distributed in nature and divided into blocks.

As such, there is no NoSQL data format.

You can store data in HDFS in any format

Hadoop has many NoSQL databases with which it can be integrated are HBase and Cassandra.
