How to get text from text box in Swing

I have create a textbox in swing and a button. When the button is pressed, I want to to store the value entered in the textbox. How can I do this?

You can add a Button listener here. And when the button is pressed, get the value as follows:

login.addActionListener(new ActionListener() {

            public void action(ActionEvent e){

                System.out.println(username.getText());

            }

        });
