How to get column names from Hive table

How can I get only the column names from a table in Hive?

You can try this:

describe database.tablename;

To get all the columns of a particular table from belongs to particular database use the following:

hive> use <database_name>;

hive> desc <table_name>;

Comments

If I am not wrong, this will display more information than just the table names.
