So, let’s start from the beginning.

Edureka 2019 Tech Career Guide

Most of us know and accept that fact that there is a significant skill gap in the industry today. What this means is that there is a looming discrepancy between the kinds of professionals companies are looking for and the skills professionals currently possess. In essence, we can say that the IT industry is evolving at an accelerated pace and tech professionals are not really able to follow in tow. In fact, a previous skill report by Edureka emphasized on the fact that professionals today need to up-skill 15-20 times in their careers to stay relevant in today’s competitive IT industry. This fact is true regardless of a professional’s experience and the domain they are currently working in.

Mastercard Joins the Cybersecurity Talent Initiative Alongside Microsoft

A fact that very few people know and understand is that cybersecurity is a domain that is growing at an exponential rate. This can be further emphasized by a survey that pointed towards 313,000 cybersecurity job openings in the US between September 2017 and August 2018. To fix this growing skill vs opportunity gap, a program called the Cybersecurity Talent Initiative was launched. The aim of this initiative is to educate and call upon leading companies, federal agencies, and higher education institutions to join hands and help grow the talent repository of cybersecurity professionals to protect the nation and support our digital economy. Mastercard recently joined this program alongside the previous founding partners, Microsoft and Workday.

Cybersecurity is one of the most promising domains in the IT industry right now and a career in this segment of the technology market will definitely be lucrative and have a bright future.
