JavaScript is one of the most widely used programming languages. It is also quite popular for its versatility across the platforms. Some of the most popular frameworks based on JavaScript are Angular, React, Node.js, Vue.js, etc. In this article, we will understand how to disable JavaScript in the following order:

 

Introduction to JavaScript

As we know that JavaScript is a client-side scripting language. To be precise a client-side language refers to the fact that the execution will be done on the client side which is the web browser in the case of the JavaScript. And scripting language refers to the fact that JavaScript does not require to be compiled and can be executed directly. So, a browser plays an important role in the JavaScript code execution and also has a significant part in the web sites that we see nowadays with all the great features which are mostly dynamic and are made possible only due to the JavaScript.

Disable JavaScript

The browsers of today have JavaScript enabled by default, which enables them to execute the JavaScript code in the visited websites. This can be turned off or disabled easily in the browsers but the thing to be noted afterward is that several websites will not show up as they are meant to be.

Now the main motive of this blog. How to disable JavaScript?

The following steps should be followed in terms of disabling JavaScript. Just follow the steps according to the browser you are using.

 

Steps to Disable JavaScript

Disable JavaScript on Google Chrome

Chrome

  1. Open Chrome.
  2. Click on the vertical three dot button just below the close button on the top right corner of the browser.

  3. Select settings from the drop-down that appears.

  4. At the bottom, you will see an “Advanced” button, click on that.

  5. After that in the “Privacy and Security” block, you will find “Site Setting”.

  6. After you will select Site Setting, you will find JavaScript which is allowed by default.

  7. You can now select the option and choose whether you want to disable JavaScript completely or just for some particular website.

  8. After making changes, click Done

 

 

Disable JavaScript on Mozilla FirefoxMozilla

  1. Open Firefox. 

  2. In the address bar type about config and press Enter.

  3. Check the box which states I accept the risk in the center of the screen.

  4. In the appeared search bar, type javascript.enabled.

  5. From the search that appears, right click on the result named javascript.enabled and select Toggle.

  6. Now the JavaScript in your Firefox is disabled. In case you want to enable it again, just repeat the same process.

 

Disable JavaScript on Safarisafari-logo-disable-javascript

  1. Open Safari.

  2. Click Menu (logo of gear) in the top right corner of the browser.

  3. Select Preferences from the drop-down that appears.

  4. Select the Security tab and look out for Web content: section.

  5. The checkbox next to Enable JavaScript toggles whether it is on or off.

 

This is how you can turn off the JavaScript in these most widely used web browsers. But do remember that disabling JavaScript in the web browser will not let several websites to function as they want. Because several advanced features and enhancements in websites are made possible by JavaScript.
