Google India has launched its ambitious Android Skilling and Certification Program, with the aim of training 2 Million Android developers in India. Edureka is one of the few edu-tech companies that Google has tied up with, for this program.
In order to enhance the reach of the program, Google is also collaborating with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), a Public Private Partnership, under the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship. NSDC aims to promote skill development by catalyzing creation of large, quality, for-profit vocational institutions. Google India’s commitment to skill development is a crucial step to encourage micro-entrepreneurship and enable aspiring business leaders to leverage from Android’s reach and business potential.
Popularity of Android
As on March 2016, the Google Play Store has more than 1 Million apps available for download, with over 65 Billion downloads till date. Android, the single biggest destination for developers, has paid out more than $7 Billion to mobile developers across the world. Google predicts that in the next 2 years, India will house the largest developer population globally, paving the way for Android development to become the most popular choice for app development.
Increased interest in Android
