Hi guys, I come from academia (computational biology, stats, modeling, machine learning) and I want to learn Hadoop to transition to the Big Data Analytics field. Is it really necessary to learn Hadoop or the basic stat/math softwares (SAS, SPSS, R, Matlab,..) can do the job?
I don’t have a basic knowledge of Java. Will that be a problem/obstacle if I want to use Hadoop to do Big Data Analytics?
Thank you for your time !!

    Hello,

I have 4 years of experience in the field of SAP Basis and Security but i want to switch to Big Data Analytics because i’m not keen on continuing with the current field i’m employed in. I was trained in Java but that was 4 years ago and don’t really have any work experience in that. What are my prospects here? Since i do not have any work experience in this field and have gotten interview calls where companies have asked for relevant experience. How do i make this switch from one field to another with absolutely no prior relevant technical experience? Will just doing a course here help me in making this switch?
